Helping Veterans Access Home Modification Grants
We understand the financial challenges that can accompany accessibility upgrades. That’s why we work closely with Veterans and their families to help them access grants offered through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). These programs are designed to make essential home modifications affordable, allowing Veterans to maintain their quality of life at home.
- HISA Grant (Home Improvements and Structural Alterations):
- Grant Maximum: $6,800
- Who qualifies? Veterans with a service-connected or non-service-connected condition requiring home modifications to improve access or mobility.
- What does it cover? Alterations such as ramps, handrails, and improved bathroom access. Cosmetic improvements, like new flooring or general remodeling, are not covered.
- Grant Maximum:

- SAH Grant (Specially Adapted Housing):
- Grant Maximum: $117,014 for FY 2024
- Who qualifies? Veterans with a qualifying service-connected disability, such as loss of use of limbs, blindness, or severe burns.
- What does it cover? Major home modifications, such as installing roll-in showers, lowering counters, or adding wheelchair-accessible entrances and doorways. It does not cover luxury upgrades or unrelated remodeling.
